Jagannath temple -
This temple is regarded as one of India's busiest temples. because this temple receives thousands of visitors each year.
One thing about this temple was famous that non-Hindus were not allowed inside the temple. Only those people who were Hindus could enter it.
You can easily see the inside view of the temple from the roof of the Raghunandan library located near this temple. This temple is very ancient as well as very wonderful. This temple has a specialty in itself that it has become the world's biggest source of attracting more and more people.
Construction and other activities of this temple -
This temple was built in the year [1078 - 1148]. The construction of which was started by Kalinga King Anantavarman Chodaganga. After this, Raja Bhim Dev gave this temple the present form in the year 1197.
This temple is a Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Shri Krishna i.e. Jagannath. This temple is located in the coastal city of Puri in the state of Odisha. Due to this temple being in the city of Puri, it is called Jagannath Puri. Jagannath means lord. This temple is also dedicated to the Vaishnava sect because Shri Krishna is also a form of Vishnu Dev. This annual fair festival is also organized. Devotees come in lakhs on this occasion. It is believed that once a year a Rath Yatra is also taken out in this temple which is famous. When a chariot rally is taken out in this, that rally is considered to be associated with Vishnu as well as Saint Ramanand.
After the construction of this temple, this temple was decorated with very precious idols and many ornaments. Due to the abundance of wealth in this temple, security was also provided to the temple.
The Afghan general attacked Kalapahar, Odisha. Due to which the idols of the temple were kept in the island situated in the Chilika lake. When the rebellion was over, King Ramchander Dev got the idols installed again in the temple.
It is believed that the people of Bhil caste used to worship Nil Ishwar i.e. Shri Krishna inside the cave below Nil Parvat.
This temple's connection with Gautam Buddha and Buddhist origin -
According to the historians, there used to be a Buddhist Stupa here before this temple was built. A tooth of Lord Gautam Buddha was kept on that Buddha Stupa. Which has been delivered to Sri Lanka at present.
Deity and temple structure -
The deity of this temple is called Lord Jagannath i.e. Shri Krishna. There are many idols of Lord Jagannath in this temple which were worshiped by the ancient tribes. This temple is spread over 400,000 square feet. Which is really big. In this temple, you will get to see amazing crafts.
Which will mesmerize you. This temple has also made its identity on the basis of tourism. Along with this temple being curved, the Surdarshan Chakra is placed on it. Idols of main deities are present in its womb. It is also surrounded by small hills and dunes. This temple is protected by two islands.
world's largest kitchen -
The largest kitchen in the world is present in this temple. Which has become a source of attraction all over the world. Many local and foreign people come only to see this kitchen. Which is really a surprising thing.
Food is prepared in this kitchen for all the people who come to this temple. All the people who eat. No fee is charged from them. This ongoing service is known as Langar in the local language.
