Amarnath temple -
It is considered a major pilgrimage site of the Hindu religion. This is a cave located at an altitude of 13,600 feet above sea level in Srinagar, the capital of the Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir. Which is called Amarnath temple. The length of this cave is 19 meters and the width is 16 meters, that reason it is a big cave. This is considered the main place of Lord Shiva. This is a pilgrimage site. Which is also called the pilgrimage of pilgrims.
The reason for its name being Amarnath is that Lord Shiva told the secret of immortality to Mother Parvati here.
The specialty of the temple built in this cave is that the Shivling is built in it. It is made of natural ice. Due to this, its name is also known as Himani Shivling.
Lakhs of people come here to have darshan before full moon and on full moon. Due to this temple being covered with snow, drops of water keep dripping in it. When the temperature rises here, the amount of snow decreases to some extent. But usually the amount of snow increases here and more snow starts falling during the night.
After Shravan Purnima, the amount of snow starts decreasing gradually.
Famous legends -
Many people's legends about this temple are famous. It is said that Lord Shiva narrated the story of Amarnath to Mother Parvati here. It is believed that whoever comes here with devotion. He sees a pair of two pigeons and Shiva and Mother Parvati give them salvation. Lord Shiva had described many routes to Mother Parvati coming to Amarnath, which make it easy for anyone to attain liberation.
According to some scholars, it is said that when Lord Shiva was taking Mother Parvati to narrate the immortal story, he left Shesnaag, which resides in Lord Shiva's neck, at the Shesnaag salt place. When many other small snakes came in his way, he left them at a place called Anantnag.
The first address of the Amarnath temple came to a Muslim shepherd in the 16th century. When that shepherd discovered this cave, it is believed that even today, the fourth step in the offerings is made by that shepherd.
These caves are not one or two. There are many caves that are still buried under the snow.
Pilgrimage to Amarnath -
Which is the way to complete the journey of this pilgrimage site. The first route goes from Pahalgaom and the second route passes through Baltal near Sonamarg. No vehicle can be used to go ahead of these two routes. After this, the way forward can be decided only by walking on your feet. Here special arrangements have also been made for old people to reach the temple. It is very rare to go through these routes. Both these roads are full of difficulties. Only those people start traveling on these routes, who like to take risk. If you want to reach the safe abode, then you should not choose to travel on foot.
Pahalgam to Amarnath (route 1) -
Along with being a way to go to Pahalgam Amarnath, it is also a tourist place. Which is located 315 kilometers away from Jammu. Going ahead from here you get to see government buses. Along with this, you can start the journey on foot from here itself. If you start your journey on foot from here, then the path is very difficult. That's why it will be easy for you to travel by buses.
Eight kilometers from Pahalgam lies Chandwadi, which is also called the first stop. Pilgrimage begins from here and those who travel on foot. They camp here at night. When morning comes, they again start the journey by climbing the mountains ahead. Another flea valley is situated on its other side. It is said that a war took place between the gods and the demons in this Bhati in which the gods were victorious.
Chandwadi which is called the first stop of the journey. A place named Sheshnag, 14 kilometers away from it, is called the second stop of the journey.
It is said that a beautiful lake is situated between two hills on this way. This lake is also known as Sessnag lake.
Amarnath remains only eight kilometers from this.
Baltal to Amarnath (second route) -
This is the second route by which the distance of Amarnath is 400 km. From here you get buses for travel. Along with this, full facilities have been made for the reception and langar of the tourists.
